Description of Curandera – Shaman healer
The original acrylic painting was inpsired by Maria Sabina. She was a Mazatec curandera who lived her entire life in a modest dwelling in the Sierra Mazateca of southern Mexico. Her practice was based on the use of the various species of native psilocybe mushrooms.
Curandera is a traditional folk healer or shaman in Latin America, who is dedicated to curing physical or spiritual illnesses.
Curandera-Spiritual Healer is the title of this piece. She brings a peaceful energy to those who view her. It is said that the painting has a magical energy. She is much more beautiful in person.
