Nicho- Shrine-Altar: A nicho is an object of Latin American folk art. It is common to see decorative boxes called “nichos” set upon tables and pedestals to display religious icons. These boxes may serve as a religious altar (to mark a significant religious event) or to honor a patron saint or being. The activity will strive to expand, understanding and gain a connection to the artist’s personal and professional life, as well as the colorful and complex world in which she lived and worked. In the construction and design of these nichos/altars we will reflect on her image, publicly, creatively and personally. Creating the perfect tribute to a great Artist.
Come join us for painting, crafting and assembly of a unique piece of art in tribute to an amazing artist. This is the PERFECT art class for a FRIDA KAHLO FAN!!! ViVa La Frida!
