Art By Mia is proud to announce a six week run of creative art classes incorporating culture, art history and lots of FUN FUN FUN at La Casa Azul Bookstore in East Harlem NYC. Every week a diffferent class for different age groups will be presented. Something for everyone to enjoy, be inspired and get your creative genius working!!!
These are small intimate classes with limited seating it is advised to reserve your space now to guarantee a seat. ALL CLASSES MUST BE PREPAID upon registration due to limited seating. Once you have registered you will receive a confirmation with your payment.
ALL MATERIALS SUPPLIED. IT IS SUGGESTED EACH STUDENT BRING A SMOCK OR APRON TO EACH CLASS.
Classes are geared toward introducing students to the concepts and do not require current art skills or previous art education.

Nicho- Shrine-Altar: A nicho is an object of Latin American folk art. It is common to see decorative boxes called “nichos” set upon tables and pedestals to display religious icons. These boxes may serve as a religious altar (to mark a significant religious event) or to honor a patron saint or being. The activity will strive to expand, understanding and gain a connection to the artist’s personal and professional life, as well as the colorful and complex world in which she lived and worked. In the construction and design of these nichos/altars we will reflect on her image, publicly, creatively and personally. Creating the perfect tribute to a great Artist.
