A dream of mine has been to use Art & Alternative techniques to reduce stress, assist in
improving health and enhance the quality of the life around me. How good does it feel when you’re in the middle of a warm and loving embrace? Doesn’t it put a smile on your face and a skip in your heart? I believe that Its important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others. I know that when my energy is high and I am relaxed, I am more productive, feeling strong, happy, confident, successful and focused. My practice in the healing arts will always move forward. The techniques are endless and the results, forgiving and miraculous!! A combination of visual arts, music, writing and movement with Alternative techniques such as Reiki have proven to have astonishing results of healing mind, body and soul. I believe it’s the secret art of inviting happiness, love, healing and spirituality to the body as a whole.Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. A therapy, based on an ancient Tibetan Buddhist technique, developed in Japan in the late 19th or early 20th cent. by Dr Mikao Usui (1865–1926), in which the therapist channels this energy through him- or herself into the patient by the gentle laying on of hands, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being. Based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
As I work towards my Master Teacher Certification I am eager, open and willing to learn. Take it for a spin, you just may like it!!!

The Change of Season and her GODDESS: Harvest Goddess – Autumn Goddess
Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter when the arrival of night becomes noticeably earlier. Autumn in poetry has often been associated with melancholy. The possibilities of summer are gone, and the chill of winter is on the horizon. Skies turn grey, and many people turn inward, both physically and mentally. In Greek mythology, Demeter is the goddess of the harvest, who presided over grains, the fertility of the earth, and the seasons . Though Demeter is often described simply as the goddess of the harvest, she presided also over the sanctity of marriage, the sacred law, and the cycle of life and death.

Art By Mia will be participating in the 2012 Sketch Book Project where thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the world.
After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view.
